Our speciality is pyrometallurgy, with keen emphasis and expertise in the production of ferroalloys and smelting technologies.

QUALIFIED FOUNDATION
MetX was established by Dr Orhan Demir, a Metallurgical Engineer with 18 years of experience in the field. Working in numerous roles in production, research, business development and management, he is an expert in pyrometallurgy and operational management systems.
He started his career as a process engineer in steelmaking in Turkey. He left production environment for further studies at WITS and after completing his PhD, he started building his career as a specialist in EPCM companies before starting METX in 2004.
Equipped with the vast experience and know-how in the technology and business of metallurgy, he then embarked on the management consulting field with a specific interest on the improvement of efficiency and throughput in mining and metallurgical operations.

Developing and patenting the Maxred technology. Maxred technology was developed to increase the chrome recoveries and to reduce energy consumption in ferrochrome production.
Introduced silicon carbide manufacturing in South Africa for the first time from the local raw materials.
Developed the business model and the technology to produce ferrosilicon in a shaft furnace, designing, erecting and managing the very first pilot plant for commercial production of ferrosilicon in a shaft type furnace. The benefits were reduced CAPEX, reduced gas emissions and reduced electricity consumption in the production of ferrosilicon.
Multimillion rand savings from efficiency improvement and output in metallurgical operations by developing and implementing strategic systems and tools.
